A Commitment to Service
A New Generation of Leadership
Nathan Dowds was born and raised in Richland County, Ohio. As the son of a firefighter and a nurse, Nathan was raised to value a life spent in humble service of your neighbors. After graduating high school in Shelby, Ohio Nathan enlisted in the Army and became a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. He fought in Afghanistan in 2002 and 2004, and in Iraq in 2003. In 2005 he returned home to Ohio and used the GI Bill to study business at The Ohio State University and then law at University of California, Hastings.
In 2014 he joined the full time staff of Team Rubicon, a non-profit that trains and organizes military veterans to respond in the aftermath of natural disasters around the world. The organization experienced impressive growth and success due to its simple message of humble-service and servant-leadership. These are the values that motivate Nathan to continue serving his neighbors in the Ohio Senate.
